The book I have been searching for 10 years

Book Name:  I was a Drug Addict by Ravindra Singh This is a book I read in the summer of 2001, more than 10 years back. I couldn’t buy it then, but have been searching to buy it since then. This should tell you something about the book. IWADA is the autobiographical tale of one Ravindra Singh, a boy born into an affluent middle class set against the background of the Hippie and the drug culture of India of the ‘80s. The writing style is fast paced and brutally honest, as first time writers tend to be. The narrative quickly recounts the author’s decent into the bottomless pit of drug addiction and his attempts to crawl back to rid himself of the addiction and regain his life. Tragically, he fails and dies at the young age of 21. The final chapter has been written by his father. Both touching and realistic to the core, the story explores the fall of a young boy, smart, well educated and rich squander everything to his addiction. Since the style is not preachy, I

Pawar slapped !!!

An angry young Sardar took on himself to articulate the anger of Indian people against the inflation and corruption rampant in the country.  Someone called Harwinder Singh must've got  inspired by Sunny Deol films and  gave one tight slap to the Agriculture Minister and ICC Chief (yes, you heard right !!) Sharad Pawar. Frankly, I believe such behavior is unworthy of a decent Indian citizen especially against a 70+ year old guy like Pawar and can lead to further ugly instances. However, the net was  immediately  abuzz with some very funny comments.  Sample these #1 :  PM ji 26/11 was an attack. This is just a slap -  On   PM denouncing the "attack."    #2: Congress is worried now that aam aadmi ka haath, is now Pawar ke saath #3: What Manmohan Singh can't, Harwinder Singh Can. None of the above comments are mine.  I have participated and still support Anna Hazare's peaceful methods of protest.  However, the comments are undeniably funny. BTW,

Market guys..Take a chill pill !!!

Pretty much nothing new or positive happening in the stock markets as of now. Neither in the Indian nor on the global front. Europe crisis is boring the daylights of everyone, after all its been almost a year now that this crisis started. Interest rates are ridiculously skewed across the globe. Hence while 30 yr mortgages are being offered to buyers in slowing down, unemployment rife developed economies at a ridiculously low rate of ~4-4.5% (FIXED), their counterparts in so called developing, employment generating and economically expanding nations like India are getting money at 11+% (Floating) and only for 20 years. I wonder who is the overpaid idiot who approves such price anomalies money and credit.  Actually, one can’t really put the blame only on the corporate sector. Even governments, who should be thinking long term benefit of the nation and economy, have been happily going around printing, inflating their way out of crises and throwing good money after bad by doling cash/

Books: last refuge of the miserable husband

Books are a man 's best friend. (Pl note that man is in BOLD and underlined) By this I don't mean that women don't read. Oh no no no. They do. And in piles and heaps. All sorts of stuff. Useful or otherwise. Stuff like books, grocery list, Bombay times Page 3, Fashion magazines (Read??!!!), Auditor's reports, text books (!!!)…you name it. They read it all. In fact, a couple of ladies I know, who, if god forbid, were to chuck their reading habit, it may result in sales drop and (shudder) depress PE valuations of online bookstores like Flipkart etc. by a significant amount . BTW do you know that "…by a significant amount" is analyst speak for "I don't know exactly how much… …I GUESS it should be a big number but just don't ask me HOW BIG or WHY. Just accept the relation to be of as high correlation as the way God ordained to be. I am too lazy/ too ignorant/ too smart to try and prove it scientifically." But we digress. Returning back

Not so seriously speaking: Issue 1

by our staff reporter Drunk-on-job patrakar It is now unofficially confirmed that the state government of KP (Kaccha Pradesh) headed by Phoolsakhi ji has invited global tenders for manufacturing and deployment of statues to meet the urgent shortfall in the required no of statues in Bucknow. Unspeakable sources reveal that the Chinese company “Trojan Horse” is widely tipped to win the multibillion rupees contract which will require the winner to build, intall and operate 1,345 statues of Phoolsakhi ji and Banshi Kam in the various provinces of Myanmar and Burkina Faso. However, widespread anger and protests continues in the state as the citizens and the opposition alleges that government is ignoring the fact that the state is itself reeling under an acute shortage of statues and parks of the above-mentioned leaders. They further allege that due to the shortage the young generation, including Julian Assange are unaware of the glorious revolution. Teachers and parents were protesting on

Sooper Saturdays....

"Saturdays are the most dull and disappointing days for me. I have an off while the wife is out on work and poor me, I am home alone with only a TV and an unlimited internet connection to pass time for the whole day. Boring." Ha Ha Ha. Good one no?? So guys, most Saturdays are super nirvana time. Ultimate chillaxing time when I can sleep late, draw fishbone charts in my mind on why I deserve to skip bath, dedicate time to decent hobbies (read raiding the fridge) and basically doing nothing of note or of use. So what was different this time? When a handsome thirty something boy is at home without parental supervision, zillions of interesting friends across the globe, and blessed with fast unlimited internet connection what exactly will he be surfing looking at? Well you got it right, the “normal” stuff. But I was shocked to realize that I had spent full 30 mins on the net drooling and ogling at…believe it or not… PAKISTANI CHICKEN BIRYANI !!! And so enamored was I w
